JD:

• This position is in the Mainframe Database Services group which is part of the Data Platforms group
• The Database Services group is responsible for many functions in servicing Application Db2 zOS and IMS operational databases including but not limited to Database design Performance tuning Backup and Recovery Security Disaster Recovery Capacity management
• The individual will collaborate on development of technical decisions and execute related solutions
• About the job Design test implements and secures the organizations production and nonproduction databases in high-volume OLTP Warehouse or Batch environments utilizing state of the art database concepts and employing leading edge maintenance techniques to maximize Application availability
• Provides consultation to Application Developers Data Modelers on Database design Performance and Tuning Database engine enhancements Database Utility usage Database Security features
• Provides support for various activities including Database maintenance Application releases Performance tuning Disaster recovery Database software upgrade and patch testing Schema change and Utility Automation
• Collaborates on the development of technical and security standards with other database administrators and technical resources on the IMS platform
• Provides rotational 24/7 on call support for production environments US stateside location to sync with CLINET personnel time zones.

Desired skills

• Proficiency in IMS v12 databases
• Monitoring and tuning of IMS v12 databases to assure database performance availability and recoverability in IMS DCDB and batch environments
• Use and support of DBRC for registered databases
• Support of HAL databases and migration to HAL databases
• Use of BMC MAXM EP for IMS BMC Database Advis
• An understanding of the Agile methodology
• Strong communication skills analytical ability judgment and the ability to work effectively with client and other IT management and staff Must be proactive adaptable collaborative and a logical thinker.
