Job Description :

Need DB2 (LUW) Server Administrator.

Required Qualifications:
• Candidate must be located within commuting distance of Malta, NY or be willing to relocate to the area. This work requires candidate to work out of Office premise.
• Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent required from an accredited institution. Will also consider three years of progressive experience in the specialty in lieu of every year of education.
• At least 7 years of experience in DB2 (LUW) Server administration and maintenance.
• L2 or L3 support experience including Patching and Upgrade
• Installation & Administration.
• Build new instances environment and projects.
• Should have managed High availability clustered systems.
• Backup and Recovery.
• Experience on older versions and knowledge on latest technologies.
• Must be able to work in 24x7 production support environment.
• Participate in an on-call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours.
• U.S. citizens or U.S. Green Card Holders are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Data center experience is a plus.
• Change Management and DR experience is preferred.
• Performance tuning and cross platform migrations experience.
• Automation with scripts is a plus.
• Troubleshooting Hardware related issue and working with OEM Vendors.

 Db2 DBA mainframe engineer candidate must have Parallel Sysplex experience designing, maintaining and supporting the major application subsystems running on z/OS. Must possess minimum of 7 years previous experience as a Db2 DBA mainframe engineer supporting Application Database Administration Services for Db2 on z/OS and provide leadership and training.


This candidate will be fulfilling an experienced Senior Db2 DBA mainframe engineer position.
  • Responsible for the overall management and administration of Db2 for z/OS and performance of Db2 for z/OS subsystems across multiple Sysplexes and CECS.
  • Provides technical direction and education to programmers, analysts and other DBA associates.
  • Prototypes the new features, functions and strategies of new application subsystems technology.
  • Capable of creating the roadmap, processes, best practices, standards and strategies for continuous improvement of monitoring, performance, resiliency, availability, and scalability of Db2 on system z.
  • Effective performance tuning and problem determination knowledge
  • CICS/MQ for z/OS experience desired
  • SQL tuning and optimization experience desired
  • REXX experience desired
  • Vendor management experience
  • Provides 24x7 oncall support within a team rotation

  • Assist in implementation of new features and program fixes in databases
  • Maintain “State of the Art’ knowledge of best practices in systems administration, high availability, metrics and business continuity specifically for DB2 for z/OS
  • Candidate must be self-motivated and assertive while possessing the ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks in a team environment
  • Assists and maintains the improvement of systems administration-related plans, processes, procedures, standards and priorities.
  • Provides problem resolution support, specific to Db2 on z issues; identifies and resolves systems application problems, coordinates with programming application users to determine symptoms and ensure accurate problem resolution.
  • Plans and implements strategies and procedures for physical disaster/recovery and contingency planning.
  • Perform database recovery and backup tasks
  • Assists application development and maintenance staff with Db2 on z questions and issues.
  • Works with vendors on problem identification and resolution.
  • Knowledge of banking industry business processes a plus.
